YOUR GUIDE TO MALTA’S NORTHERN COAST

St Paul’s Bay.
A place for every pace.

Family days by the sea. A spring walk with nowhere to rush. A little more time for yourself in autumn. Find your base in St Paul’s Bay, Buġibba, Qawra or Xemxija.

Discover here. Arrange your stay directly with your host.

FOUR CORNERS OF THE SAME COAST

Choose your everyday holiday.

St Paul’s Bay is the wider area. Buġibba, Qawra and the older harbour-side streets blend into one coastal area. These names help you choose a base rather than draw firm boundaries.

01

St Paul’s Bay

Start with the older harbour-side streets and Wignacourt Tower. A base for coastal walks and discovering the local shoreline.

02

Buġibba

Build a holiday around the promenade, eating out and the summer splash park. Check street noise and the actual beach access near your stay.

03

Qawra

Find the aquarium, classic car collection and the bus terminal. Compare seafront hotels with apartments a little further inland.

04

Xemxija

Make time for the heritage trail and Simar wetlands in their visiting season. Ask about gradients and the route from your accommodation to the waterfront.

THE SAME BAY. A DIFFERENT RHYTHM.

Make the season yours.

Our planning suggestions for a family summer, a spring escape or an unhurried autumn stay.

HIGH SUMMER · SCHOOL HOLIDAY IDEAS

Little adventures. Long family days.

Mix a swim with an aquarium visit and a cooler evening on the promenade. The children’s splash park lists July–September opening. Check the exact beach: much of this coastline is rocky.

Before choosing your stay

Ask about family room layouts, children’s pool access, shade, lifts and the real route to the water. Some hotels are adults only.

Map points come from OpenStreetMap and may be building or area centres rather than entrances. Two swimming locations are listed without a checked map point. The accommodation directory below also includes addresses that are not yet mapped. Bus positions use the 16 September 2026 snapshot; stop names were checked against the current operator catalog. MTA register snapshot checked on 1 October 2026, using the town filter “SAN PAWL IL BAHAR”. Local corrections exclude premises no longer used as visitor accommodation. The totals above show listed premises after those corrections. These are licence records for premises, not a count of unique owners or available rooms. B&Bs can appear under different licence categories. Listings do not imply a partnership with Malta-Booking.com.

Licence names and addresses come from the Malta Tourism Authority public register. Holiday rentals often use an address as their registered name. Direct contact links are shown only where checked against a provider’s own site. A licence listing does not confirm availability, breakfast, step-free access or suitability for children.

A LITTLE PLANNING GOES A LONG WAY

Make the everyday bits easier.

Know your shoreline.

Perched Beach has sand above the sea and ladder access to the water. Qawra Point is mainly rocky. For a larger sandy-bay outing, look at Mellieħa Bay or Golden Bay outside this area.

Plan the journey.

Use Buġibba Bus Terminal as a starting point for public transport. Ask your host about airport arrival, luggage storage and the last part of the walk. Hills and road crossings matter with a buggy.

Use Malta Public Transport →

Keep a flexible day.

Try the aquarium or classic car collection for an indoor outing. Choose cooler weather for the Xemxija trail. Simar lists September–May visiting; the splash park lists summer opening.

ASK YOUR HOST

The right questions.
A better holiday.

  • Is the room or apartment suitable for our group, and what are the bed and bathroom arrangements?
  • Are breakfast, a kitchen, air conditioning and pool access included?
  • Are there steps, lifts or hills between the entrance, accommodation and waterfront?
  • What are the total price, payment terms and cancellation conditions for our dates?
